Since we’ve been here the weather has been remarkably mild and calm. Hardly any rain (other than today of course, just as I’m writing this) – and for this time of the year in deepest darkest winter you’d have expected some miserable cold weather. It has been occasionally gloomy, chilly and overcast but, on the whole, not too cold and actually quite sunny.
We’ve been able to roam around town, exploring the many parks and gardens, the gloriously opulent side streets of Kensington and Chelsea, the grungy backstreets of Southwark and Borough with its crumbling Victorian infrastructure and contrasting glittering modern towers, such as the thrusting glass spire of the Shard.
