Sydney has had a few monikers over the years, but perhaps none so evocative as The Emerald City with its shimmering harbour, golden beaches and dazzling architecture – new and old. This particular name comes from the David Williamson play (newly coined at the time) ‘Emerald City’, referencing that other great Land of Oz, the ‘one with wizards and witches.’ Williamson added “everyone comes here along their yellow brick road looking for the answers to their problems and all they find are the demons within themselves.” I’m not sure about demons, but it’s a busy bustling place after living in Far North Queensland for a year – the traffic is something else and it’s an expensive place to be that’s for sure, but it is glorious and it’s good to be back, albeit briefly – for what was in essence a very social long weekend.

ahhh, this brings back lots of fabulous memories of Sydney, particularly when I lived at 27 Billyard Avenue (looking over Boomerang) back in the late ‘80s-early ‘90s. Fun times!
