A Farewell To Sydney
Well, that’s a wrap. After 15 years in our gorgeous Little Selwyn Street house and 38 years in Sydney all up, it’s time to go – and off to FAR FAR North Queensland we head. We’re driving up and taking seven days to reach our final destination, Clifton Beach. It’s a 2,500km drive via Port Macquarie, Byron Bay, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton, Airlie Beach, Townsville (and Magnetic Island) and finally, Wonga Beach – yep, I know, we’re overshooting slightly but staying there a few nights with our dear friends Andy and Shirl at one of our favourite FNQ spots. We head back down the winding coastal road to Cairns (to meet our orange container – hopefully contents intact) early morning on the 1stNovember. A new beginning.
It took all of three hours (for the specialists – six weeks for us) to pack our belongings into the aforesaid container thanks to the completely efficient and friendly team at Allied – leaving us spinning with mixed emotions in our now empty ex-house. We’re spending a couple of nights in a local hotel before heading back to the house while a last BIG clean takes place. And then… leaving the keys… we’re off.
Ahhh, Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next. At 1,727,000 square kilometres, it’s the second largest state in Australia, after Western Australia. Nearly five times the size of Japan, seven times the size of Great Britain and two and half times the size of Texas. Queensland is BIG! It’s chocked full of BIG THINGS, some of which we hope to capture on the way up… like the BIG Pineapple, the BIG Ned Kelly, the BIG Barrel and BIG Bottle, the BIG Mango, the BIG Brolga and the BIG Cassowary… plus, I’m sure, many other BIG surprises along the way.
It’s a BIG MOVE!
More BIG Things to come….
BIG hugs of farewell for now. What adventures lie ahead 😍
